  • 4 pieces Chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on for better flavor
  • 2 pieces Apples, preferably sweet varieties like Fuji or Honeycrisp, sliced
  • 1 piece Onion, chopped, yellow or white onion works well
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced, fresh garlic enhances flavor
  • 1 cup Apple cider, avoid vinegar-based cider for sweetness
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil, can substitute with butter if desired
  • 2 teaspoons Dried thyme, fresh thyme can also be used
  • To taste Salt and pepper, adjust according to preference

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat olive oil over medium heat in a large skillet.
  2. Season the chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  3. Add the chicken to the skillet and cook until browned on both sides, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  4. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Add the onion and garlic to the same skillet, cooking until soft.
  6. Stir in the sliced apples and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Pour in apple cider and bring to a simmer.
  8. Return the chicken to the skillet, cover it, and cook for 15-20 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy your cozy dinner!

Notes

Choose high-quality apple cider for depth of flavor and sweetness in the dish. Make sure the skillet is hot before adding the chicken to achieve a nice sear. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness, ensuring the chicken reaches 165°F (75°C). Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the juices to redistribute.
