Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb Boneless, skinless chicken thighs Can substitute with chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup Bourbon Preferably a smooth bourbon for a better flavor
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce Use low-sodium for a healthier option
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar Dark brown sugar adds a richer flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Honey Maple syrup can be a good alternative
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced A fresh addition enhances the dish
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced Fresh ginger is preferred for flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil Can substitute with olive oil
  • Green onions For garnish, adds a nice color and freshness

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix together bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and add chicken. Cook until browned.
  2. Pour the bourbon mixture over the chicken and bring to a simmer.
  3. Cook until the sauce thickens and chicken is fully cooked, about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Garnish with green onions before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

For enhanced flavor, let the chicken marinate in the sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking. When adding the bourbon, allow it to simmer for a few minutes to cook off the alcohol content. Ensure the chicken is cut into uniform pieces to ensure even cooking. Always taste the sauce; if you prefer it sweeter, adjust the sugar or honey accordingly. Serve the dish over rice or noodles to soak up the delicious sauce.
