Ingredients

Protein
  • 1 pound ground beef
Rice/Grains
  • 1 cup macaroni
Veggies
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Sauce
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
Spices
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Toppings
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Use your favorite cheese; optional toppings can include carrots or bell peppers.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and garlic; sauté until the onion is translucent.
Cooking
  1. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  2. Stir in the macaroni and diced tomatoes. Cook until the macaroni is tender, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Reduce the heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider using beef broth made from scratch or adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce. Keep an eye on the macaroni, as cooking times can vary depending on the type. If storing for later, add cheese just before serving to keep it creamy. To make it healthy, incorporate more vegetables into the dish.
