Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 cups Cooked, shredded chicken breast Rotisserie chicken works perfectly.
  • 6 slices Bacon Thick-cut recommended, cooked and crumbled.
  • 8 oz Cream cheese Softened.
  • ½ cup Ranch dressing Store-bought or homemade.
  • cups Shredded cheddar cheese About 6 oz, sharp or mild.
  • ½ cup Sour cream Optional but recommended.
  • 2 stalks Green onions Thinly sliced.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper To taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble into bite-sized pieces.
  3. If using raw chicken breasts, poach or bake until fully cooked (internal temperature should be 165°F/74°C), then shred with two forks. Alternatively, shredded rotisserie chicken can be used.
Mixing
  1. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, ranch dressing, sour cream (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well blended.
  2. Add the shredded chicken, crumbled bacon (reserve a small handful for topping), and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the creamy mixture. Fold gently until evenly coated.
Baking
  1. Spread the mixture evenly into a greased 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  2. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese and reserved bacon pieces evenly over the top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and the cheese topping is melted and slightly browned.
  4. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing. Top with additional cheese just before serving for enhanced flavor and presentation. Let the dish rest before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
