  • 2 lbs flank steak (or skirt steak) Works best for flavorful and tender tacos.
Oils & Juices
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For searing the steak.
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice For marinating the steak.
Spices
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Tortillas
  • Tortillas for serving
Toppings
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro For garnish.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream For serving.
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (for sauce) To mix in sauce.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the flank steak on both sides until browned.
  2. Transfer the steak to a crockpot, adding lime juice, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the meat is tender.
  2. Once cooked, shred the meat with forks.
Sauce Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix chopped cilantro, sour cream, and lime juice for the sauce.
Serving
  1. Serve the shredded meat on tortillas and drizzle with cilantro lime garlic sauce. Enjoy your tacos!

Notes

For even more flavor, consider marinating the steak overnight before cooking. To ensure maximum tenderness, avoid opening the crockpot during cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
