Ingredients

Fruit
  • 4 cups Honeycrisp apples (peeled, cored, and chopped) Honeycrisp apples are preferred for their sweetness and texture.
Spices
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg (optional) Can be omitted if desired.
Sweeteners
  • 1/3 cup Granulated sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice
Thickening Agent
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
Crumble Topping
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Cold unsalted butter (kept chilled until mixing)
  • 1/2 cup Rolled oats

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the chopped honeycrisp apples with ground cinnamon, granulated sugar, fresh lemon juice, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside for about 10 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
Make the Crumble Topping
  1. In another bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and rolled oats. Cut in the chilled butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Preheat the Oven
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a muffin tin by greasing it lightly or lining it with paper cups.
Assemble the Cups
  1. Spoon the apple mixture evenly into each muffin cup, filling them about three-quarters full. Top each cup generously with the crumble mixture.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the crumble is golden brown and the apples are tender. Allow cooling for a few minutes before removing from the pan.

Notes

Serve warm topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzle with caramel sauce, or enjoy with whipped cream. For added flavor, consider chopping nuts for the topping or switching apple varieties.
