Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) Add for extra chocolaty flavor
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. If desired, add the chocolate chips.
  2. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined to avoid overmixing.
Cooking
  1. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease if necessary.
  2. Pour 1/4 cup of the pancake batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with your favorite toppings, like whipped cream or fresh berries.

Notes

Store the dry mix in a sealed container for easy meal prep. For fluffier pancakes, avoid overmixing and let the batter rest for a few minutes before cooking.
