  • 1 bag tortilla chips, thick-cut or restaurant-style
Cheeses

  • 1 cup fresh salsa homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup sour cream dollop generously

Method
 

For the Beef Filling
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until soft.
  3. Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2-3 more minutes.
For the Assembly
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. On a large baking sheet, spread out the tortilla chips in an even layer.
  3. Spoon the beef mixture over the chips evenly.
For the Toppings
  1. Sprinkle the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese generously on top.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted.

Notes

For extra crunch, bake the chips for a few minutes before adding toppings. Monitor the baking time closely to prevent burning the cheese. Make your beef mixture ahead of time for a quicker assembly. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
