Ingredients

Protein
  • 2 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Rice/Grains
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
Liquids
  • 2 cups chicken broth
Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
Spices
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Fats
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Toppings
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-7 minutes per side. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the orzo and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the orzo is cooked and the liquid is mostly absorbed.
  4. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and Parmesan cheese, mixing until the cheese is melted and the sauce is nicely combined.
  5. Slice the cooked chicken and return it to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  6. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Make sure to properly season the chicken; this enhances overall flavor. Watch the orzo closely as it cooks; overcooking may lead to a mushy texture. For added depth, consider using homemade chicken broth if you have it on hand. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated easily, making this a great meal prep option.
