  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, grated
Vegetables
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced Use fresh mushrooms for the best flavor.
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Other
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust seasoning to your taste.
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry Make sure it's fully thawed before using.
  • 1 egg for egg wash Use beaten egg for brushing.
  • Olive oil for cooking

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  3. Add sliced mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and cook until moisture is released and evaporated.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface. Place the mushroom mixture in the center and top with grated Gruyère.
  5. Cut slits along the edges of the pastry, then fold them over the filling to create a braid.
  6. Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

Serve with a fresh green salad for a light meal, or pair with a tangy dipping sauce like Marinara or aioli. Enjoy with a glass of white wine, such as Chardonnay. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives for added color.
