Ingredients

Protein
  • 1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined) Choose fresh or thawed shrimp for the juiciest bites.
Oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Helps sear the shrimp perfectly without sticking.
Aromatics
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced) Adds a fragrant base that enhances the glaze.
Seasoning
  • salt and black pepper Season to taste, balancing the sweet chili glaze.
Sauce
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce The star ingredient that gives the bites their signature tangy-sweet heat.
  • 1 tablespoon honey Boosts the sweetness naturally and balances the chili’s spiciness.
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce Adds umami depth and a hint of saltiness to the glaze.
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar Brightens the flavor with a subtle tang that keeps the glaze fresh.
Spices
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional, for an extra kick if you like your bites spicier.
Toppings
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro (chopped) Adds a vibrant, herbal freshness to each bite.
  • 2 pieces lime wedges A squeeze of lime brightens the dish and complements the sweetness perfectly.
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds Provide a lovely crunch and a nutty aroma.

Method

Cooking
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque.
  4. Stir in the sweet chili sauce, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are coated and heated through.
  5. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped cilantro, toasted sesame seeds, and lime wedges before serving.

Notes

Make sure to use fresh shrimp for the best flavor and texture. Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes based on your heat preference. If making ahead, store shrimp in an airtight container, and reheat gently to avoid overcooking. Squeeze fresh lime juice right before serving for the best flavor.
